BARE WIRES is four souls who started playing music many years ago, many bands ago, and many miles apart, finally coming together in Moscow, Idaho. Blues is the thread that holds it all together, with scraps of rock, and who knows what else woven in wherever it seems to fit. Lyrics and music from our heads and guts, spawned from life experiences and vivid imaginations, marinated in equal parts inspiration and desperation.
BARE WIRES plays an eclectic mix of original material best described as a hearty blues/rock, along with some carefully selected covers, trying to avoid the usual cookie-cutter band tunes.
MARTY YTREBERG: lead guitar
Marty has played in a number of bands over the years, mainly in the Northwest. He considers himself to be primarily a Texas-style blues musician, but also plays rock, funk, and other styles of music. He uses Paul Reed Smith and Goya guitars, and plugs into Mesa Boogie and Vox amplifiers. While he tries not to model his guitar playing after other artists, he cites Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan as inspirations.
DAVE GRAHAM: bass guitar and vocals
Dave was born in the corn belt of Iowa, then moved to southern California where his roots of music took hold. Surf music and the British invasion were his first musical influences until the San Francisco / Haight Ashbury scene, and the new British rock of Cream, The Who, Jethro Tull, and Hendrix took over. The influences of the blues were also mixed in with the likes of The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, John Mayall, and Muddy Waters. Playing in his first rock band at the age of 15, he has come full circle back to the defining elements of his idea of rock. The blends of blues giving birth to rock in various forms such as the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard, and ZZ Top.
